Cavan Gaels celebrate Lá na gClub in fine style and in lovely weather.
We had a very successful Lá na gClub on Sunday May 10th. The festivities were centered around a Mass at 2 o-clock for deceased club members in the clubrooms by Fr. Gerry Kearns, Pastoral Centre. In the morning there were fun games and activities for our under 6s, under 8s and under 10s. Also held on the day was the John Fee Memorial Tournament for our under 12s. Kathleen Fee, wife of the late John Fee, presented the trophy to the winning captain James Veale.
In the afternoon there were a series of 7-a-sides for our under 14s, under 16s and minors. The games ended with a series of 7-a sides for the adult players.
Throughout the day there was a barbeque which proved very popular. Quite a number of former players returned for the festivities. There was a photographic exhibition in the clubrooms detailing the origins, growth and the many successes of the club. Also featured were those committee members and players who kept the flame alight in less successful times.
A special word of thanks to all team mentors and to those who worked so tire lessly to make our celebration of 125 years of the GAA so memorable.
